What's the difference between a lingerie mini dress and a regular short dress?

Lingerie mini dresses are made from sheer, stretch, or lace fabrics designed for intimate wear rather than outdoor use. They're cut to show skin, often with open backs, cut-outs, or semi-transparent panels that wouldn't work in everyday clothing. A regular short dress prioritises coverage and durability; a lingerie mini dress prioritises silhouette and visual impact.

How do I choose the right size in a lingerie mini dress?

Always check the specific size guide for each product, sizing varies between brands. For fitted styles, measure your bust, waist, and hips and compare against the chart. If you're between sizes, go smaller for a tighter fit or larger if you prefer more comfort. Brands like Obsessive tend to size true to standard European sizing, while some costume-style pieces run smaller.

Can I wear a sexy mini dress as outerwear?

Some styles work as outerwear depending on the fabric and how you style them. Solid-colour stretch mini dresses with minimal sheer panels can pass as clubwear or party dresses. Fully sheer or lace styles are generally intended for private wear. Layering over a bodysuit or under a jacket can extend the wearability of more revealing pieces.

How should I wash a lace or mesh mini dress?

Hand washing in cool water with a mild detergent is the safest method. If machine washing, use a mesh laundry bag on a delicate or hand-wash cycle at 30°C or below. Never tumble dry. Press out excess water gently and lay flat to dry, hanging a wet stretch garment will distort the shape over time.

What lingerie goes well under a sheer mini dress?

A matching bra and thong set is the most common pairing and looks intentional rather than accidental. A bodystocking underneath adds coverage while keeping the layered look. For a more classic aesthetic, a garter belt with stockings under a short dress is a combination that's hard to beat. The key is making sure whatever is underneath complements rather than competes with the dress itself.
